In the quiet peaceful setting of Restaurante Azul you are surrounded with original paintings by some of the best local artist while you are savoring the selective cuisine and discovering wines from around the world in our international bodega.

Like most places with their own distinctive character, words can never genuinely describe the charisma of Hotel Tikar. The azure and yellow facade of a typical Mediterranean hotel almost betray the traveller of the pleasant secret that is hidden within. However the moment the door swings open and you discover the brilliant combinations of blues, ochres and yellows on the Italian textured walls you realize this hotel is far from typical.
It is a special place where one needs to personally walk on the dark African hardwood floors, see the constantly changing art exhibitions, settle into an overstuffed sofa in the bar next to the fireplace, sit on one of Restaurante Azul's teak chairs, taste a traditonal Spanish or New World wine, smell the jasmine-rose-honeysuckle medley in the garden or listen to the waves breaking on the seashore from the rooftop terrace on a moonlit night.
Hotel Tikar's allure is it's effortless ability to caress you and comfort you. As one guest once told us "A 3 day weekend here is as restful as a 2 week holiday in an ordinary hotel."
Hotel Tikar located 250 meters from the beach on the coast of Almería in the fishing port of Garrucha, is a casually elegant hotel. With only six rooms, all of which are suites, we offer the warmth and friendliness of a quiet bed and breakfast and the attention and services of a finer hotel. We hope that one day you will be able to visit our hotel on your own.

Hotel Tikar is a small hotel with only 6 junior suites. All of our rooms offer what we think is important. If you need anything else, do not hesitate to let us know.
Wheelchairs:
Our hotel is entirely accessible for disabled clients. From the reception, to the restaurant, to the art gallery, to the salon bar and out to the garden there are no steps. In the suites, all of the doors are extra wide, the beds are motorized, and there are roll-in showers. The lift also leads to the rooftop Terraza/Bar where you can have a drink and enjoy the Mediterranean views.
There are a number of excellent golf courses around Garrucha: Marina de la Torre, Valle del Este and the Arizona style Desert Springs.
A small fishing town, Garrucha is well known for its promenade. Made of marble, the balaustrade was built in 1869. Do not miss the fish auction at the fishing port.

We have many clients who are vegetarian. All of our first courses do not contain meat or fish or can be made without a particular ingredient. Just let us know.
We are very proud of our restaurante Azul. It is the restaurant the locals go to when they are looking for a cosmopolitan, relaxed and charming place to eat.
All of our dishes are prepared daily in small batches and cooked when ordered. The quality and freshnes of the ingredients are very important to us. You will see Antonio, our butcher, bring our meat daily ( and he always finds us sneaking our morning coffee.)

From Almería follow road E 15 towards MURCIA . Take the exit 534 VERA, GARRUCHA ANTAS) . follow towards Vera. At about 1 km in the roundabout you will see a sign to Garrucha. You will get to another roundabout, follow towards Garrucha for 5 km to another roundabout. We are located on the right about 800 m.
From the north follow road E 15 towards Almería and take the same exit.

Our wine shop, Enoteca Tikar, agrees that Life is too short to drink bad wine and has set out in pursuit of great wines at a great price. Once a month we hope to offer a selection of distinctive wines from smaller wineries or made of lesser known grapes or just not typically sold in supermarkets. An opportunity to discover, enjoy and expand your wine tasting horizons and knowledge. In the words of my fellow American Clifton Fadiman "A bottle of wine begs to be shared; I have never met a miserly wine lover."
